Clears throat...

Allow me to reintroduce myself: my name is Lynette Davis, MATW Class of 2022!

Greetings lovely one,

I’m proud to be a part of the first cohort from the Earlham School of Religion (ESR) to receive the Master of Arts: Theopoetics and Writing (MATW).

To my knowledge, I am also the first Black/African American woman to earn this degree. #Fortheculture

ESR MATW Cohort: L-R: Miche Hunter McCall, Lynette D. Davis, Jenifer Lyn Ingerman Miller, and Denise Menard Davis

A special shoutout to all of my ESR and Bethany professors, especially to Jim Higginbotham, Ph.D., (who taught my very first ESR class -Spiritual Formation), Ben Brazil, Ph.D. (my guidepost in the darkness aka my advisor), Michael Birkel, Ph.D., who I’m grateful to have met right before he retired and, of course, Scott Holland, Ph.D., challenged me to look at mental health care through a theopoetic lens.

It’s been a ride, but we did it! Go class of 2022!

In addition to completing my first novel and working on a collection of poetry, I’ve been led to offer a mental health and soul care ministry on a mission to bring more love into peer-led mental health support. As a Spiritual Companion and Expressive (therapeutic) Writing Facilitator, I offer one-to-one spiritual direction (accepting new directees) and writing workshops for healing and transformation.

If you'd like to learn more about ways to partner with me, please check out my website at https://lynettedavis.com/.

I have a heart for Creatives, especially those who've ever felt "other" like they didn't belong, have been edge dwellers (never quite fitting in any one circle), and/or have struggled with mental health conditions throughout their lives.

As a Mental Health peer advocate and speaker, I am passionate about equipping faith-based communities and change-making organizations with practical resources to create safe and courageous spaces for those struggling with mental illness.

Finally, as someone who sits on the margins of margins, I prioritize affordable care for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ Spiritual Changemakers.

If you’d like to support my ministry, please do! Prayers are always appreciated. I'm also open to new connections, reconnection, and networking introductions! Reach out to me at https://lynettedavis.com/contact/.
